IOCA UK is returning to Largs Sailing Club for the National & Open Championships 2026.
Largs is a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, Scotland, about 33 miles from Glasgow.

Early Arrival at LSC
If you are arriving before the start date of the Nats 26 and are planing to go sailing, Private Coachs and parents must report to LSC reception before going afloat.

The Nationals 2026 is delivered by a team of non-parent - Race Officials and Jury and parent volunteers for all the other duties on and off the water.

Parents - Protecting Vulnerable Groups
A Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check is a legal requirement in Scotland for anyone undertaking a "regulated role" involving children and protected adults.
The duties on the Duty Roster are all classed as regulated roles.
The latest time for applying for a PVG has passed so please do not complete the google form.
Private Coaches - Protecting Vulnerable Groups
Private Coaches employed by parents who are supporting sailors at the Nationals 2026 will need to have joined the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
This is urgent and action needs to be taken immediately as the ckecking process can take up to three weeks to complete.
The mygov.scot has further information on Sports Coaches working in a "regulated" role and how to apply to join the PVG scheme.
Support persons must complete the IOCA Event Support Boat Registration Form before the Nationals 26.
Prior to the event
Support Persons can email a copy of the PVG Disclosure Scotland Decision to the IOCA UK Administrator admin@optimist.org.uk
At the event, before going afloat, report to the Race Office to collect a Support Boat flag.
At the event
Before going afloat at Largs Sailing Club, Support Persons must report to the IOCA UK Race Office, open from Saturday 1st August 26 to show their PVG scheme dislosure document, either on a device or on paper to the class administrator.
The following details will be recorded.
1. Name
2. Date of Birth
3 PVG membership number
4. Disclosure number
5. Recruitment decision and date.
Following successful completing of this task, a Support Person official flag will be issued.
International sailors
International sailors are very welcome to enter this event. To make an entry go to members.optimist.org.uk to become an International member of IOCA UK. Select International when creating a membership; there is no membership fee. For more information on International membership contact admin@optimist.org.uk
